Herodias

c. 15 BCE–after 39 CE · 1st century

Herodias was a Herodian princess, a granddaughter of Herod the Great. She left her first husband, Herod's son Herod II, to marry his half-brother Herod Antipas, tetrarch of Galilee and Peraea, a union denounced by John the Baptist. When Antipas was exiled by Caligula in 39 CE, she chose to follow him to Gaul.
