Hierotheos
Hierotheos was a Byzantine monk consecrated bishop of 'Turkia', the land of the Hungarians, in the mid-10th century. According to the chronicler John Skylitzes, the Hungarian chief called the gyula was baptised in Constantinople around 952 and took Hierotheos home with him. The bishop's mission converted many Hungarians and was an early Byzantine attempt to bring Christianity to the Carpathian Basin.
