Hitachi Province
Hitachi Province was an old province of eastern Japan, corresponding to most of modern Ibaraki Prefecture, north-east of Edo. From the 12th century the Satake clan were its leading warrior house, until Tokugawa Ieyasu moved them to Akita in 1602. Under the Tokugawa shogunate it was dominated by the Mito Domain, held by one of the three senior branches of the Tokugawa family.
