Mito, Ibaraki
Mito is a city in eastern Japan and the capital of Ibaraki Prefecture. The Satake moved their seat there in the 1590s, and from 1609 it was the castle town of the Mito Domain, ruled by a senior branch of the Tokugawa family. The domain's scholars, who compiled the Dai Nihonshi, made Mito the home of a school of thought stressing loyalty to the emperor, which inspired the movement that led to the Meiji Restoration.
