Hor-Aha

r. c. 3100 BCE · Also known as Aha

Hor-Aha was a king of the First Dynasty of Egypt, around 3100 BCE, the successor of Narmer, and is often identified with Menes, the legendary first king. Labels from his reign record campaigns and religious foundations, and tradition credits him with the founding of Memphis. His tomb at Abydos was surrounded by the graves of sacrificed retainers.
