Narmer

r. c. 3100 BCE

Narmer was an Egyptian king of around 3100 BCE, the last ruler of the Thinite line of Dynasty 0 and usually counted as the founder of the First Dynasty. The Narmer Palette, a carved ceremonial slate, shows him wearing the crowns of both Upper and Lower Egypt and is often read as a record of the unification of Egypt. He is sometimes identified with the legendary Menes.
