House of Habsburg-Lorraine

1736– · 18th century

The House of Habsburg-Lorraine was the dynasty founded by the marriage in 1736 of Maria Theresa, heiress of the Habsburg lands, and Francis Stephen, duke of Lorraine, later Emperor Francis I. Its members ruled the Habsburg Monarchy, then the Austrian Empire and Austria-Hungary, until 1918, and held the Grand Duchy of Tuscany until 1859 and other Italian states.
