House of Lobkowicz

Also known as Lobkowicz family

The House of Lobkowicz is a Bohemian noble family recorded from the fourteenth century, raised to princely rank in 1624. Its members included the chancellor Zdeněk Vojtěch Popel of Lobkowicz and Prince Václav Eusebius, who acquired the Duchy of Sagan in 1646. Prince Joseph Franz Maximilian was a patron of Beethoven. Its collections, confiscated under communism, were largely restored after 1989.
