Huaiyi
The Huaiyi were peoples of the Huai River region of present-day northern Anhui and Jiangsu, outside the Zhou royal domain. Western Zhou bronze inscriptions record repeated campaigns against them and tribute taken from them, and states such as Xu rose among them. They were gradually absorbed by Chu, Wu and other states in the Spring and Autumn period.
