Humayun's Tomb

c. 1565–1572 · 16th century

Humayun's Tomb in Delhi is the mausoleum of the Mughal emperor Humayun, commissioned by his widow Bega Begum and completed around 1572. Designed by the Persian architect Mirak Mirza Ghiyas, it was the first great garden tomb of the Indian subcontinent, set in a walled charbagh, and its red sandstone and white marble design anticipated the Taj Mahal. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
