Hutterites

The Hutterites are an Anabaptist Christian community that holds property in common, named after Jakob Hutter, a leader burned for heresy at Innsbruck in 1536. Fleeing persecution in Tyrol, they built communal settlements on noble estates in Moravia in the 16th century, but were expelled after 1622 and moved on through Hungary, Transylvania and Russia. Most now live in colonies in Canada and the northern United States.
