Innsbruck

Innsbruck is the capital of the Austrian state of Tyrol, on the Inn at the foot of the Nordkette range. Seat of the Tyrolean princes from the 15th century, it was a favoured residence of Emperor Maximilian I, whose Golden Roof and cenotaph in the Court Church are landmarks. A university town, it hosted the Winter Olympics in 1964 and 1976.
