Brixen
Brixen, in Italian Bressanone, is a town in South Tyrol, northern Italy, where the Rienz joins the Eisack. It was the seat of the bishops of Brixen from about 990, who ruled as prince-bishops until 1803, and its cathedral and bishops' palace dominate the old town. It passed to Italy after the First World War.
