Innu
The Innu, called Montagnais by the French, are an Indigenous people of eastern Quebec and Labrador in Canada who traditionally lived by hunting caribou and fishing. Their alliance with Samuel de Champlain against the Iroquois, made at Tadoussac in 1603, helped found the French fur trade on the St Lawrence. Their language belongs to the Algonquian family.
