Ikausu

7th century BCE · 7th century BCE

Ikausu was a king of the Philistine city of Ekron in the early 7th century BCE and son of King Padi; his name corresponds to the biblical Achish. He appears in Assyrian records among the western vassals of Esarhaddon and Ashurbanipal. A dedicatory inscription found at Tel Miqne in 1996, naming him as builder of a temple to the goddess Ptgyh, confirmed the site as Ekron.
