d. c. 454 BCE · 5th century BCE

Inaros II was a Libyan prince who led a revolt against Persian rule in Egypt from about 460 BCE. With help from an Athenian fleet he defeated the satrap Achaemenes and besieged the Persians in Memphis. A Persian army under Megabyzus crushed the revolt around 454 BCE, destroying much of the Athenian force, and Inaros was later executed.
