15th century · 15th century · Also known as Inkawasi

Incawasi is an Inca archaeological site in the Cañete valley of Peru, built in the later 15th century during the war against the coastal lordship of Guarco. According to the chroniclers, Túpac Inca Yupanqui built it as a 'new Cusco' to serve as his base in the campaign. Its well-preserved stone and adobe buildings include storehouses, plazas and halls where khipus used in accounting have been found.
