Inti Raymi

Also known as Festival of the Sun

Inti Raymi, the Festival of the Sun, was the main religious festival of the Inca Empire, held in Cusco at the June solstice in honour of the sun god Inti. Banned by the Spanish authorities in the 16th century, it was revived as a public spectacle in 1944 and is now staged each June at Sacsayhuamán above Cusco.
