Jajce

Jajce is a town in central Bosnia and Herzegovina at the falls where the Pliva meets the Vrbas. Its fortress was a seat of Bosnian kings, and the last king, Stephen Tomašević, was executed there in 1463. Retaken by Matthias Corvinus, it held out as the centre of a Hungarian banate until 1527. In November 1943 the second session of AVNOJ met there and laid the foundations of federal Yugoslavia.
