Jethwa dynasty

Also known as Jethwas

The Jethwas are a Rajput clan of Saurashtra, in Gujarat, and one of the oldest ruling families of the region. Their tradition traces their power far back; historically they held western Saurashtra from seats at Ghumli and later Ranpur and Chhaya, and from 1785 at Porbandar. Their state of Porbandar joined India in 1948, and its capital is known as the birthplace of Mahatma Gandhi.
