Junagarh Fort

1589–1594 · 16th century

Junagarh Fort is a fort in the city of Bikaner in Rajasthan, India, built between 1589 and 1594 by Karan Chand, minister of Raja Rai Singh, a general of the Mughal emperor Akbar. Unlike most Rajput forts it stands on the plain rather than a hill. Its palaces, decorated in Rajput and Mughal styles, were extended by later rulers of Bikaner.
