Justinus Kerner was a German poet and physician from Ludwigsburg, a leading member of the Swabian school of poets alongside Ludwig Uhland. As a doctor at Weinsberg he gave the first detailed description of botulism, caused by spoiled sausages, and he wrote widely on the occult, notably The Seeress of Prevorst (1829).
