Kamphaeng Phet
Kamphaeng Phet is a town on the Ping River in north-central Thailand, known in the fourteenth century as Chakangrao. A fortified frontier town of the Sukhothai kingdom, it was besieged by Ayutthaya in the 1370s and later became an Ayutthayan provincial centre. Its walls and temple ruins were inscribed with those of Sukhothai and Si Satchanalai as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1991.
