Kamran Shah Durrani

d. 1842 · 19th century · Also known as Kamran Shah

Kamran Shah Durrani was a Sadozai prince, son of Mahmud Shah Durrani. When the Barakzai brothers took over most of the Durrani Empire around 1818, he and his father held on to Herat as an independent principality. Kamran resisted a long Persian siege in 1837 and 1838, but his vizier Yar Muhammad Khan Alakozai became the real ruler and killed him in 1842.
