Durrani Empire
The Durrani Empire was an Afghan state founded by Ahmad Shah Durrani in 1747 after the death of Nader Shah of the Afsharid Empire. It raided northern India repeatedly, defeated the Maratha Empire at the Third Battle of Panipat in 1761 and further weakened the Mughal Empire. Its loss of the Punjab opened the way for the rise of the Sikh Empire.
