Kanem–Bornu Empire

Also known as Kanem-Bornu, Kanem–Bornu

The Kanem–Bornu Empire was a long-lived state around Lake Chad, first centred in Kanem and later in Bornu. It was ruled for centuries by the Sayfawa dynasty and was among the earliest states in the region to adopt Islam. It has its own profile on the site and reached its height under Idris Alooma.
