Karlovac
Karlovac is a city in central Croatia, at the meeting of the Kupa, Korana, Mrežnica and Dobra rivers. It was founded in 1579 by Archduke Charles of Austria as a star-shaped fortress of the Military Frontier against the Ottomans and named after him. It later grew into a trading town on the routes from the Pannonian plain to the Adriatic.
