Kausambi

Also known as Kaushambi, Kosambi

Kaushambi was an ancient city on the Yamuna, about 50 kilometres south-west of Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh, India, and the capital of the Vatsa kingdom. One of the great cities of the Buddha's time, ruled by King Udayana, it lay on trade routes between the Ganges plain and the west and had important Buddhist monasteries such as the Ghositarama. Its ruins include massive earthen ramparts and a Mauryan stone pillar.
