17th–19th century · 17th century

Kenroku-en is a landscape garden in Kanazawa, Japan, counted among the Three Great Gardens of Japan. It was developed over the 17th to 19th centuries by the Maeda lords of the Kaga domain beside Kanazawa Castle, with ponds, streams, teahouses and carefully pruned trees. It was opened to the public in 1874 and is now one of the best-known gardens in the country.
