Etchū Province
Etchū Province was a province of Japan on the Sea of Japan coast, corresponding to modern Toyama Prefecture. In the 1570s Uesugi Kenshin of neighbouring Echigo campaigned there against local lords and the Ikkō-ikki. After 1600 most of it belonged to the Maeda clan, lords of Kaga Domain, the richest domain of the Tokugawa period.
