Kilamuwa

fl. c. 830 BCE · 9th century BCE

Kilamuwa was a king of Sam'al, a kingdom in south-eastern Anatolia, in the later 9th century BCE. His inscription, carved in Phoenician on a stone slab found at Zincirli in 1902, boasts that he hired the king of Assyria against his enemies and improved the lot of his poorest subjects. It is one of the most important early royal inscriptions in a Northwest Semitic language.
