Kildare
Kildare is a town in County Kildare, Ireland, that grew around the monastery founded by St Brigid in the late 5th or early 6th century. A double monastery of nuns and monks, it became one of the leading churches of Ireland and was closely tied to the kings of Leinster. The town later gave its name to the county and to the FitzGerald earls of Kildare.
