Kilo-class submarine

Also known as Project 636

The Kilo class is the NATO name for a type of diesel-electric attack submarine designed in the Soviet Union and built from the early 1980s, later in an improved version known as Project 636. Quiet and relatively cheap, it has been exported to many navies, including those of China, India and Algeria. Vietnam received six improved Kilo-class boats from Russia between 2014 and 2017.
