King You of Zhou

d. 771 BCE · 8th century BCE

King You of Zhou was the last king of the Western Zhou dynasty, reigning from 781 to 771 BCE. He set aside his queen, a daughter of the Marquis of Shen, and their son in favour of his consort Bao Si and her son. The Marquis of Shen then allied with the Quanrong and the State of Zeng, sacked the capital Haojing and killed King You, after which the court moved east to Luoyi.
