Kinta Valley

The Kinta Valley is a valley of the Kinta river in Perak, Malaysia, around the city of Ipoh. From the late 19th century it was one of the richest tin-mining districts in the world, worked largely by Chinese miners and later by European dredging companies. The tin boom turned Ipoh into the main town of Perak and shaped the state's economy until the collapse of tin prices in the 1980s.
