Muzaffar Shah I
Muzaffar Shah I, born Zafar Khan, was the founder of the Gujarat Sultanate. Appointed governor of Gujarat by the Tughluq sultan of Delhi in 1391, he declared independence after Timur's sack of Delhi had left the sultanate powerless, taking the title of sultan around 1407. He was succeeded by his grandson Ahmad Shah I, who founded Ahmedabad in 1411.
