Kisangani
Kisangani is a city on the Congo River in the north-east of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, at the head of navigation below the Boyoma Falls. Founded by Henry Morton Stanley in 1883 as Stanley Falls station and later called Stanleyville, it was a centre of the Simba rebellion in 1964, and in 1999–2000 Ugandan and Rwandan armies fought each other for control of the city during the Second Congo War.
