Lango
Lango is a region of northern Uganda north of Lake Kyoga, home of the Lango people, who speak a Luo language. In the nineteenth century it lay beyond the borders of the kingdoms and served as a refuge for Kabalega during his war against the British; he and Mwanga II were captured there in April 1899. Milton Obote, Uganda's first prime minister, came from Lango.
