Langres
Langres is a hilltop town in the Haute-Marne department of north-eastern France, on a plateau near the sources of the Marne. As Andematunnum it was the chief town of the Gallic Lingones and then a Roman city, and from late antiquity it was the seat of a bishopric whose bishops were also dukes and peers of France. Its ramparts are among the most complete in France.
