Leicestershire

Leicestershire is a county in the East Midlands of England, centred on the city of Leicester. In the late Iron Age it lay in the territory of the Corieltauvi; it later formed part of Mercia and of the Danelaw, and emerged as a shire after the English reconquest of the 10th century. The county was long known for sheep farming, hosiery and footwear, and includes the battlefield of Bosworth.
