Middle Angles

The Middle Angles were a group of Anglian peoples in the east Midlands of England, around the Fens and the Nene and Welland valleys. Around 653 Penda of Mercia made his son Peada their ruler, and Peada's baptism brought the first Christian mission to Mercian territory. They were later absorbed into Mercia.
