Lemro River

The Lemro is a river of Rakhine State in western Myanmar, flowing south through the Arakan hills to the Bay of Bengal. Its valley was the centre of the Arakanese kingdoms from the 9th to the 15th century, a period named after the river, with capitals such as Pyinsa, Parein, Hkrit and Launggyet. In 1430 the capital moved to Mrauk U, between the Lemro and Kaladan valleys.
