Lhokseumawe

Lhokseumawe is a city on the north coast of Aceh province in Sumatra, Indonesia. The remains of Samudera Pasai, one of the first Muslim states of Southeast Asia, including the tomb of Sultan Malik al-Salih dated 1297, lie nearby. In the late 20th century it grew as the centre of a large natural gas industry based on the Arun field.
