Lille
Lille is a city in northern France near the Belgian border, historically the chief town of Walloon Flanders. Part of the County of Flanders and later the Burgundian and Habsburg Netherlands, it was taken by Louis XIV in 1667 and became French by the Treaty of Aix-la-Chapelle in 1668, after which Vauban built its citadel. It became a great centre of the textile industry and is the capital of the Hauts-de-France region.
