Lingaraja Temple

11th century · 11th century

The Lingaraja Temple is the largest temple of Bhubaneswar in Odisha, dedicated to Shiva as Harihara. Built in the 11th century, mainly under the Somavamshi kings, it is the high point of the Kalinga style, with a curving tower about 55 m high rising over a walled compound of many smaller shrines. It remains an active place of worship, closed to non-Hindus.
