Bhubaneswar
Bhubaneswar is the capital of the Indian state of Odisha. Near it lie Sisupalgarh, a fortified city of the last centuries BCE often linked with ancient Kalinga, and the Jain caves of Udayagiri and Khandagiri. Known as the 'temple city', it has hundreds of medieval Hindu temples, above all the 11th-century Lingaraja temple. It replaced Cuttack as the state capital in 1948.
