Lohkot

Also known as Loharkot

Lohkot (Loharkot) was a mountain fortress in the Pir Panjal range, in the Poonch region, the ancestral seat of the Lohara dynasty of Kashmir. Mahmud of Ghazni besieged it in 1015 and again in 1021, but its strong position, snow and bad weather forced him to withdraw both times, ending his attempts to conquer Kashmir.
