Los Adaes
Los Adaes was a Spanish mission and presidio near present-day Robeline in north-western Louisiana, founded in 1721 to block French expansion from Natchitoches. From 1729 to 1772 it served as the capital of the province of Texas. After France ceded Louisiana to Spain the frontier post lost its purpose, and its settlers were moved to San Antonio in 1773. The site is now a historic site.
