Luis Carrero Blanco
Luis Carrero Blanco was a Spanish admiral and Francisco Franco's closest political adviser for three decades, serving as under-secretary and then minister of the presidency. In June 1973 Franco made him prime minister, the first since the civil war, expecting him to ensure the regime's continuity. On 20 December 1973 the Basque separatist group ETA killed him in Madrid with a bomb that hurled his car over a building.
