Malcolm II of Scotland

c. 954–1034 · 11th century · Also known as Máel Coluim mac Cináeda

Malcolm II was King of Scots from 1005 to 1034. His victory over the Northumbrians at the Battle of Carham around 1018 secured Lothian and the Tweed frontier, and the British kingdom of Strathclyde came under Scottish control during his reign. He had no sons, and the throne passed to his grandson Duncan I, founding the line of kings that ruled medieval Scotland.
